Are you frustrated by getting stuck on your learning journey?

Do you feel like you're not making any progress despite your efforts?

If this is the case, then learning in public might be one of those solutions that will help you to pace your journey! πŸŽ“πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“

Sharing your learning experience with others is a simple yet powerful concept that incorporates learning in public. By doing so, you hold yourself accountable and build a network of people who can offer support and feedback. This will help you learn more swiftly and effectively while also making the process more pleasant.

The following are some of the benefits of learning in public:

πŸ” Boosts motivation:

When you get to know that people are supporting you in your journey and cheering you, it might inspire you to keep going and achieve your goals.

🀝 Builds community:

Learning in public helps you to meet some of the most amazing folks who have the same interests and ambitions, forming a supportive and collaborative community.

πŸ’‘ Enhances learning:

By sharing what you've learned, you reinforce your own knowledge while also gaining new amazing ideas from the viewpoints of others.

πŸ“ˆ Increases accountability:

When you commit to learning in front of an audience, you hold yourself accountable to your goals and to the audience, which can help you stay focused and motivated.

Now that you know the advantages, let's look at some examples of learning in public.

  1. Blogging:

You can start with blogs and write about your learning experience, progress, and discoveries. This allows you to share your expertise with others while also receiving feedback from readers.

I have recently started my blogging journey in January 2023 and in this process of three months, I have genuinely learned a lot. It is all bout exploring new things, reading, learning, implementing, and sharing.

  2. Social media:

You can use social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn to share your progress, ask questions, and connect with others in your field.

Twitter is one such platform that has a very amazing and supportive tech community. You can start by sharing your learnings in the form of a thread or even a small tweet.

  3. Open-source contributions:

You can contribute to open-source projects and share your code and knowledge with others in the community.

I still remember when I used to struggle a lot to just make my first PR when I was completely new to open-source. But even if you start with the smallest of the contribution, whether it may be fixing a small typo or updating the documentation. Just go with it. And eventually, you will start finding your path in open source.

  4. Podcasting:

You can start a podcast where you share your learning journey and interview experts in your field.

I have done a couple of podcasts of my seniors who got placement offers on campus and those videos are uploaded on our college's official youtube handle.

It was a great experience to shoot such a podcast. And I would love to do more in coming future.

  5. YouTube:

You can create videos where you share your knowledge and insights, demonstrate your skills, and teach others.

Yet it's a very unexplored field for me. But I would surely love to try it in coming future.

Learning in public is a great way to learn more in less time, build a community, and hold yourself accountable.

So why not give it a try and start sharing your learning journey today? πŸš€
